Renita Greener is a Contemporary Christian Artist, living in Toronto, ON, Canada.
From as early as she could speak, Renita was singing.
Born in Nova Scotia, her Maritime roots run deep and music was always the biggest part of her formative years. She followed this path to Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Triple Threat Performance program, one of 40 students from across Canada. There, she landed numerous solo performance opportunities.
In the years following Sheridan, Renita began to build a career, and soon a family.
In 2004, Renita became a Mom to a beautiful girl followed by a sweet boy just over two years later. Renita decided to leave her full time job to stay at home and raise her children.
In 2011 and 2012, Renita and her husband Alan were blessed with two more girls, and the family of six was complete. As an active member of her church, she also served on both the Worship team and in the youth ministry.
In 2014, Renita’s youngest daughter was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, and the fight for survival began. By the goodness and saving grace of God, she was healed.
An absolute and true miracle.
From that moment in time, everything changed. Having gone through so much already (sickness, a home burglary and a devastating family crisis), life and Renita would never be the same.
After 18 long years of pushing down her dreams to sing, Renita turned to songwriting. It was a new dream. A better dream. A God dream. The beauty born out of the ashes.
After reading Steve Harvey’s inspiring book Jump, Renita realized that was exactly what she had to do – JUMP!
Renita found the Toronto Songwriting School and Murray Foster, the gifted musician behind it. They met and two weeks later, Renita had an original song fully composed. That meeting would prove to be just the beginning.
During her time as a student at the Toronto Songwriting School Renita wrote more then a dozen songs in the Contemporary Christian Music Genre with a pop/rock style.
In June 2017, Renita began recording her first demo. In October 2017, she copyrighted her first songs and joined SOCAN and SESAC.
On October 17, 2017, Renita had the absolute pleasure of singing as a member of the Dove Choir with Reba McEntire at the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards in Nashville. Spending a week in Nashville, Renita pursued the call on her life by connecting with record label professionals from Provident Music Group, a division of Sony, Word Entertainment and Capitol Christian Music Group, all leaders in the Christian Gospel Music Industry.
Driven by the call on her life, Renita’s mission is to make a difference in the world by ministering through her music. Her hope is to help restore fallen and hurting people by bringing healing through her songs and pointing people to Jesus.
Even when Renita let go of her gift, God never did, resurrecting the dreams from years ago.
Renita believes it is never too late to fulfill a God given dream. As long as there is breath to breathe, it is never too late.
